Description
A modern version of the famous United States 1907 Ultra High Relief double eagle gold pattern was produced in 2009 at the Philadelphia Mint. It was made to demonstrate how technical advances in minting techniques can now accomodate manufacturing such a coin. The original design was never made for commercial use because it was at the time impossible to make it in sufficient quantities.
Through 21st-century technology the original Saint-Gaudens plasters were digitally mapped by the Mint and used in the die-making process. The date was changed to 2009, and four additional stars were added to represent the current 50 states. Also included was the inscription “In God We Trust” which was not used on the 1907 version.
This 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle coin has been graded by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) as a perfect MS70, indicating that it is in mint condition with no visible flaws or imperfections. The “FS” designation means that the coin was graded within the first 30 days of its release, further adding to its rarity and desirability.
This 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle PCGS MS70 FS is a true masterpiece of American coinage and a must-have for any serious collector. Its beauty and rarity make it a valuable addition to any collection, and its rich history and legacy make it a cherished piece of American numismatic heritage.
